Austria
Arrival by car
Those travelling by car will find us easily. From the Munich-Vienna highway A1, get off the exit Salzburg-Nord, direction to Salzburg. Automatically you will get to Vogelweiderstraße, where you will find us at the left side at the crossing with Breitenfelderstraße.
Parking:
We have a limited supply of our own parking spaces. You are welcome to use these free of charge, but they cannot be reserved. If all our parking spaces are occupied, you can also use the surrounding short-term parking zone free of charge. It is limited to 3 hours parking during the day (insert parking disc!), unlimited between 7 pm and 9 am and on weekends. Please ask at the reception where you can park.
Information for tour busses / coaches:
We don’t have any space for a big bus, we are sorry. We do have a few spots for cars, but not for a coach.
For coaches we recommend bus parking NORD. There you have access to the public bus line 21, with the stop named “Grüner Baum”. From there you can travel directly to our place within a few minutes, our stop is named “Breitenfelderstraße”.
In Salzburg there are several rules for tour busses / coaches. All you need to know you can find at https://www.salzburg.info/en/b2b/group-manual/bus.
Arrival from main station by foot
We can be reached from the train station in ten minutes on foot. This is the fastest way:
- IMPORTANT: Having arrived in Salzburg, do NOT walk out of the train station though the main hall (so NOT towards “Südtiroler Platz”). Instead, please follow the signs pointing to “Lastenstraße”, leading you through the underground passage and to the East exit of the train station.
- At the end of the underground passage, please use the stairs to the left (of course you may also use the elevator), leading to the street named “Lastenstraße”.
- Please cross the street, walk a few meters to the left and then turn right, into the car park of a 6-storied apartment building in pale red.
- Please cross the parking lot (past the barrier for cars). After the parking lot, cross the street and follow the street straight ahead named “Breitenfelderstraße”.
- You will arrive at another small crossing. Please continue straight ahead, still following “Breitenfelderstraße”, past a bike shop and “Norma” supermarket. At the next crossing with traffic lights you find Pension Elisabeth!
- To make the pedestrian light turn green, please push the button.
- There you are, finally arrived at Pension Elisabeth!
Arrival from main station by bus
By Bus
(Please note: Walking is much quicker than taking a bus. If you don’t have especially heavy luggage, we recommend following the walking directions as described in the tab “Arrival from main station by foot”.)
Using the city bus (Stadtbus):
Buy a bus ticket from one of the tobacconist shops inside the train station, then exit the station through the main hall, following the signs pointing to “Südtiroler Platz”.
You arrive at a square with many bus stops. On the left side of the square you find bus terminal B and C. These are the stops for all busses which bring you to the city centre (buses number 1, 2, 3, 5, 6, 25). You can take any of these busses and in any case get off at the third stop (“Mirabellplatz”).
If you took bus number 1, 3, 5, 6 or 25 you have to cross the street at Mirabellplatz, to arrive at the corner of the street “Paris-Lodron-Straße”. There is the bus stop for busses number 2, 4, 21 and 22. If you took bus number 2 from the train station and got off at Mirabellplatz, you will be at the correct stop already (Mirabellplatz bus terminal D).
From this stop at the corner of “Paris-Lodron-Str.” you have to take bus number 21. Get off at the fifth stop, “Breitenfelderstrasse”. When you get off the bus, you traverse the crossroads with the traffic lights (30 meters), and there we are! (The pedestrian lights require pressing a button to turn green.)
The city buses come in intervals of 10-15 minutes, less frequent in the evenings and on Sundays and public holidays. In the evenings the buses run until about 11 pm. Almost all of the city buses have a low entrance and some space for a baby stroller or a bicycle.
Using the regional bus (Postbus):
Alternatively you can take the regional bus 120 or 121 directed to “Mattsee” at the bus terminal A. This bus goes directly to Pension Elisabeth, without needing to change. You can buy a ticket from the bus driver, or show your pre-purchased ticket when entering. Your bus stop is “Breitenfelderstrasse”, from where you need to follow the street to the next traffic lights and over the crossing to reach Pension Elisabeth.
The travel distance is a swift 10 minutes, but the regional buses go only every half hour (on Sundays every hour). Most of these buses have stairs at the entrance and require you to store bulky items in an extra luggage compartment that you can only access from outside. Please notify the driver upon entering and before exiting if you have anything stored there.
Online time-tables include city buses as well as regional busses.

Please note that most ticket sales points only accept cash.
By taxi
The cheapest way to get to us by taxi is not to go to the taxi stand at Südtirolerplatz, but to the one in Lastenstraße, as taxis have a much shorter route from there.
UBER exists in Salzburg, but is not cheaper than other taxis.
Arrival from the airport
The nearest airport is Salzburg Airport W.A. Mozart (SZG). For other airports such as Munich (MUC) or Vienna (VIE) there are train connections to Salzburg Main Station (Salzburg Hbf) that you can look up for example at oebb.at. How to proceed from Salzburg Main Station to Pension Elisabeth is described above.
To get to Pension Elisabeth from Salzburg Airport by bus is not difficult.
Buy a bus ticket at the tobacconist inside the airport (at terminal 1, at the hall with the check-in counters). In pre-sale, bus tickets are much cheaper than when you buy them from the bus driver. The bus stop is just outside Terminal 1, right next to the parking lot.
Please note that most ticket sales points only accept cash.

There are two bus routes that you can take, both take approximately half an hour:
1) Take bus number 10 (towards “Sam”) from the airport until Ferdinand-Hanusch-Platz. Here you have a first glance at Salzburg’s pretty old town. On the very same stop you change to bus number 21 (towards “Bergheim” or “Lengfelden). The seventh stop is named “Breitenfelderstraße” and is just diagonally opposite of Pension Elisabeth. On the busses there are monitors and audio tapes that tell you the name of the next stop (you have to press a button in advance to indicate that you want to exit).
2) It takes marginally longer from the airport by bus number 2 (towards “Obergnigl”). You change the bus in the centre at the stop “Mirabellplatz” and take bus 21 from the same stop. The 21 bus brings you directly to us. Stop “Breitenfelderstraße” is the fifth stop from Mirabellplatz. We are at the crossing with traffic light.
With bus 2 it is also possible to get off a few stops before, at the main train station (Salzburg Hauptbahnhof), and walk to Pension Elisabeth from there, in about ten minutes walking distance. Just follow the instructions as given above under “Arrival by main station by foot” – for that you need to enter the station building and exit at the other side at Lastenstraße. This way you will be a few minutes faster than via Mirabellplatz and bus 21.
Connection to the old town
It takes about half an hour to the old town by foot. By bus or by car the city center is reachable within 10 minutes.
by foot
Within 18 minutes by foot you can get to the pedestrian area of the ‘right old town’ including the must-see ‘Linzergasse’. It ends with the ‘Platzl’ called square at the bridge ‘Staatsbrücke’ which connects the right and the left old town. It takes another 15 minutes to reach the center of the right part (i.e. the cathedral).
by bus
The bus ride to the center takes about 10 minutes, the bus stop is opposite to Pension Elisabeth about 30 m away.
On weekdays this bus (nr. 21) runs every 15 minutes, in the evening and during the weekend every 30 minutes till about 11 p.m.
by car
The ride to the center by car takes about 5 to 15 minutes. As the whole old town is a pedestrian area, you’re well advised to park at garages (at an hourly rate) or at the short-term parking zones at the edge of the old town.
Bus tickets
There are price-worthy 24 hour tickets for all means of public transport. These tickets are cheapest if you buy them at the small tobacconists or here at Pension Elisabeth.
Though is possible to buy tickets directly from the bus driver when boarding a bus, it is much more expensive than buying tickets in advance.
Of course there are also single-tickets, available at tobacconists or at Pension Elisabeth. Weekly and monthly tickets as well as family and group tickets are only available at tobacconists and at the ticket counter at the “Lokalbahnhof” (on the underground level of the main train station). ticket overview
There is a tobacconist near to Pension Elisabeth, as well as another three at the main station and one inside the airport. Please note that most ticket sales points only accept cash.
Alternatively you can purchase a SalzburgCARD, which grants you free entry to most sights and museums as well as the use of public transport during the period of validity (24, 48 or 72 hours). The SalzburgCARD can be bought at the reception.
Other connections
Business travellers
The airport, the Messezentrum Salzburg and the shopping center ‘Europark’ are reachable via the motorway within a few minutes, via the Vogelweiderstraße. The same is true for the McArthurGlen Designer Outlet Salzburg.
You can also go to the Messezentrum by a shuttle bus, which departs at the main station.
Events and congresses
Numerous seminar locations are close to Pension Elisabeth: Hotel Mercure (5 min), WIFI (Wirtschaftsförderungsinstitut) (10 min), Hotel Renaissance (15 min), Kongresshaus (15 min).
Flixbus
Flixbus Stop Salzburg South
From the Flixbus Stop Salzburg Süd (“Salzburg South” / Hellbrunner Landstraße) during daytime you can ride the city bus lines 3 and 7 towards the city center. For bus line 3 it’s sufficient to change once at the stop “Makartplatz”. Bus line 21 brings you from there directly to us, we are located diagonally opposite from the stop “Breitenfelderstraße”.
For bus line 7 from Salzburg Süd you need to change at stop “Äußerer Stein” first, to the lines 3, 5 or 7, in order to get to “Makartplatz”. From there you continue with bus line 21 as described above.

For arrivals in Salzburg Süd during the night there is hardly another way than taking a taxi. Usually there are several taxis waiting there, or you call one by phone number +43-662-8111 or order online via taxi.at. Uber exists in Salzburg, but it’s not cheaper than other taxis.
Please contact us if you arrive during the night, because our reception will be closed for the night. We will gladly deposit a key for you, but we need to exchange all the necessary informations.
